Italianesque antique carver chairs

Many French and Italian carpenters immigrated to America in the 19th Century and set up shops in and around Wisconsin.  They specialised in bringing Italian and French styles to the nouveau riche. 

These two Italian-style chairs are a collaboration with the Watertown Table-slide Company and were made circa 1930. They belonged to a Priest and his mistress and were given to the new owners as a present when they bought his penthouse.  They originally were together with the Italian table currently for sale in our table section. Only one more chair along with these two carver chairs survived the many journeys across America.

They traveled all around America with their NEW  owners and arrived on our Irish shores in 2021. They came into our possession because Unfortunately, the family has no space in their cottage for these lovely pieces. 

Weathered white with green detail, the current paint is an update from the lead version to match the original color and design.  The paint together with the seat pads was updated in the early 1980s.

 Please note the damage to one of the chairs. This will need a  bit of love with deep hand sand to even the splint.  Other than that these unique chairs are a steal at the current price.
